Dr. Salif Mahamane

Salif Mahamane (Sal-If Ma-hom-an) is a cognitive scientist and environmental psychologist by training. He loves studying how people’s environment affects their thoughts, feelings, and actions and, in turn, how people affect their environment as well. He has most specifically studied how natural and built environments differ in their ability to restore focused attention and recover from stress. Salif is passionate about helping people form connections with their social and physical environment to improve cognitive performance and increase their sense-of-belonging within their organizations, homes, and schools. Attachment to place, and environmental connection, stimulates an authentic motivation to thrive as an individual, and as part of a group. Salif brings this expertise as well as a nuanced understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles in leadership, focusing on demarginalizing traditionally marginalized lives, while affirming their intersectional identities.

His TEDx Talk, ADHD sucks, but not really, has garnered over 2 million views.

Salif holds a B.A. in psychology from Baylor University, an M.S. in general psychology from New Mexico Highlands University, and a Ph.D. in experimental and applied psychological science from Utah State University. He has also earned a certificate in diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace from Cornell University.

Most importantly, Salif loves fly fishing, hunting, river tripping, and spending invaluable time with his family.
